Urban Maille
Rings
We make perfectly cut, gloriously shiny, startlingly robust jump rings in 9 precious metals, 7 wire shapes and 70 different sizes.
The rings are used to make chainmaille jewelry and to replace flimsy, standard jump rings in other types of jewelry.
If you know exactly which of our thousands of ring sizes you need, this is where you'll want to go.

Weave Kits
Chainmaille patterns are called weaves. Our Weave Kits are for learning new chainmaille patterns. We've been teaching with kits for 20 years now and have a reputation for being pretty good at it.
Start here if you're new to chainmaille and want to learn.
Urban Maille
Project Kits
Project Kits don't teach weaves, they teach nice things to make with weaves you already know. Each project kit depends on prior knowledge of one or more weaves, so check those dependencies when shopping projects.
If you already know some common weaves, especially byzantine, you'll want to explore this section of the site.

Kitpacks & Inchpacks
Kitpacks are 'rings only' refills for our kits, but also for lots of other chains beyond what we offer in kit form.
Inchpacks are 'buy the inch' sets of rings, so you can order exactly what you need for x number of inches of a given size chain, without needing to know the ring sizes at all. You can even mix metals!
When you've made it before and don't need instructions, tips or tools, just the right amount of the right rings, Kitpacks & Inchpacks s is the place to go.

Instructions
Many years ago, in a creative wire jewelry group, Aislyn wrote up instructions for a difficult weave for a friend who was having trouble with it. Those instructions caused so much "Eureka!" in the group that it gave Gary the idea to make kits for learning chainmaille weaves... and that's how Urban Maille was born.
Almost all of our instructions are free and available for download.

Components
Tried and true precious metal clasps, findings, earring parts, watch parts and beads that work beautifully with our kits and projects.
We also feature jump ring sets for beaders and others who prefer sturdy connectors.

Tools & Packaging
Jewelers' pliers, of course, but also ring, rocket and claw tools, watch tools, rulers, ring sizers, coilers, tin and more.
We like to solve maille jewelry-making problems by re-purposing little tools meant for something else.

Examples of the kinds of things you can make with the skills we teach, as well as the answer to "What if I really like it, but don't want to make it myself?"
